JASON SISNEROS, FOUNDER AND DIRECTOR
Jason Sisneros founded Rising Star Academy after spending over half of his life coaching youth, high school and college soccer in the U.S. Before devoting his full time to Rising Star Academy, Jason served as the head coach for the prestigious Westridge School girl's varsity soccer team in Pasadena, California. Prior to his work at Westridge, Jason coached for the 22-time National Champion women's soccer program at the University of North Carolina. In his five years at Carolina, Jason served as Director of Match Analysis, Assistant Coach, and Assistant Recruiting Coordinator. During this time, the Tar Heels won the 2012 NCAA National Championship, 2013 ACC Conference Championship, 2016 ACC Tournament Championship and made a record setting 27th appearance in the 2016 College Cup.
While coaching at North Carolina, Jason founded the fifth division semi-professional men's soccer club, Triangle Brigade FC. Within the club's first season, Jason led the team to a U.S. Open Cup qualification by winning the oldest organized soccer tournament in the United States, the Werner Fricker Cup. Under Jason's leadership, Brigade FC was rated as a top four adult semi-professional soccer club in the U.S. The club attracted players from the U.S., Brazil, India, New Zealand and the U.K. and during two seasons of operation, Jason helped place three players into professional soccer leagues in the United States, India and Croatia.
Jason is originally from Tacoma, Washington, where he grew up playing club soccer for Lakewood Soccer Club, South Tacoma Soccer Club and eventually FC United (now Washington Premier FC). Jason was an All-League and All-State high school soccer player and began his coaching journey as a result of volunteering at the West Tacoma Boys and Girls Club at age 15. He has not stopped coaching since!
He gained valuable mentorship from his coaches and learned many lessons that inspired him to start a guidance counseling program for young soccer players around the world. Jason has been mentored by legendary coaches such as Randy Hanson, Reece Olney, Tony Chursky, Anson Dorrance, Bill Palladino, Chris Ducar and many more over the years. Jason served on the NSCAA and United Soccer Coaches continuing education team for six years, presenting at conventions and hosting webinars for coach and player education. Now he is harnessing his experience, and the expertise of his soccer network, to help young soccer players achieve their goals on and off the field.
